Something Borrowed

I was thinking of something to blog about Emily Giffin’s Something Borrowed, after reading it. So, I end up with this poem.

My name is Rachel and I am thirty
And I have my longest friend whose name is Darcy
My college friend, Dex, is her husband-to-be
And Marcus is his friend who says he likes me.
`
Eventually, something between Dex and I happened
We found ourselves in my bed, lying naked
We’re a little drunk but it’s not just ‘bout alcohol
We knew, that to each other, we fall.
`
We have this relationship they call an affair
But it is really like a sweet nightmare
We see each other whenever we can
These are the things I don’t want to end.
`
Darcy and Dex’s wedding is getting near
I feel the pain, his plan for “us” is still unclear
So I leave to prepare myself to what’ll happen next
When I came back, the wedding’s called off by Dex.
`
Then Darcy knew about “us”, but there’s nothing to lose
We found out that she’s having a child with Marcus
Maybe it’s true that some things are meant to be
That because of fate, there’s a change in our story.
